Taylor Antrim's piece for the Daily Beast tells us short story collections are big this year, defying conventional wisdom cited by naysaying agents and publishers when trying to persuade an author to write a novel instead. Thing is, story collections will continue to be published and some will do quite well. But the commercial successes are few and far between and still a dicey proposition for authors trying to get their foot in the door and the agents and publishers who want to help them.

And from what I remember, it's been this way for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI miss real short stories--like the ones that used to appear in Reader's Digest before they turned all "soundbytes and snippets only." I used to love reading those stories over lunch, so your post has me thinking maybe I'll start buying short collections instead of subscribing to RD--help the authors along a little! :)

ReplyDeleteWell here's a website that had me wait wait, I finally found the website also very contains a lot of benefits in your website is
Jual Obat Maag
Obat Batuk Darah Alami Yang Aman
Obat Hipertiroid Tradisional
Obat Syaraf Kejepit
Obat Ginjal Mengecil
Obat Batuk Kronis
Menghilangkan Sakit Pinggang
Obat Tumor Parotis
Obat Lemak Dalam Darah
Obat Polip Hidung Alami
Obat Insomnia Akut Terapi Susah Tidur
I don’t see why it has to be either/or. I intend to do both. Haven’t yet, but if all goes as planned I’ll have five stories and a collection of all five up by the end of the weekend. Might as well give customers the choice. I see no reason to limit their options. Plus, doing both equals more titles in my portfolio. Not a bad thing.
