My new friend

Apparently, someone noticed the pile of queries by my window and wanted to offer me a hand -- or paw, as it were. How this little fella wound up on the window ledge on the ninth floor of a building, I'm not quite sure. He's visited me a few times now. What shall I name him?

  3. Squirrels are really good at shredding things...like annoying queries! But watch your caramels.

  4. Ben. He's not the same kind of rat Michael Jackson sang to, but he is a tree rat -- or ledge rat in this case.

  5. I'm kind of partial to Steve. Steve the Squirrel.

Wait, maybe it's a girl. Can you check it out for us, Michael?

  6. Given he's attracted to queries:

    "Nibbles"

    ...or "Shark Bait"

  7. Hmmm... let's call him John.

  8. Parker. For his Peter Parker-like ability to scale walls and for parking himself outside your window.

    Parker the (Squirrel)Intern :-)

Plus it would work for a boy or a girl.

  9. Nutz. 'Cause a squirrel in NY on the ledge of a 9th floor bldg has got a pair.

  10. Aw! Can you open your window? I'd be so tempted to leave him treats, even though I know people aren't supposed to do that.

  11. I think you should name him Muffin. Bran Muffin.

  12. Wouldn't "Dash" work as a name for a squirrel assistant?

  13. I suggest Ledger, because that's obviously where he likes to be. :D

  14. You should start an online poll--there are some good name choices here. This is way more fun than those baby-naming games at showers.

  15. I vote for Steve's suggestion, "Squirrel Friday!" Clever and works for both genders.

  17. Shelli's beaten me to 'Ledge Rat'. But a rose by any other name...

We had a squirrel here who kept gobblinng up all the bird seed. He's gone now. With all my heart I want to believe that my cat hasn't had him for lunch.

  18. I'm not sure what you should name him, but I think every time he turns up, you should drop everything you're doing and shout, "squirrel!"...

Just like the dogs in Up!

  19. I totally had this happen to me recently with a baby squirrel and one of my friends emailed me to tell me that a squirrel's presence is good luck!

Durn, I have erased the exact thing she said, but it was cool. However, it also meant you might be too busy. seriously. I kid you not :-)

Mine was a baby and we named him Max. Here's his pic. http://plotthis.blogspot.com/2009/04/feelin-funky.html
